Sydney Film Festival’s short film competition has launched the careers of directors, writers, producers, cinematographers and other film creatives in its 54-year history.

The 10 finalists compete for four illustrious prizes: the Dendy Live Action Short Award and the Yoram Gross Animation Award (winners of these two awards are eligible for the Academy Awards); the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director; and the AFTRS Craft Award; and the inaugural Event Cinemas Rising Talent Award. All finalists screen together in two sessions with the filmmakers in attendance.
