About SFF Admit All

Created by the people of Sydney, Sydney Film Festival is committed to making screen culture as accessible to all. SFF Admit All is a new initiative designed to remove barriers to participation for diverse audiences to engage with the Festival.

“Find a filmmaker who was not inspired by a film they saw at a film festival… It made me think maybe I could be part of that community.”
Emma Hugh Hobbs, dir. Lesbian Space Princess

Sydney is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, with 51% of its population identifying as culturally or linguistically diverse and projected to reach 57% by 2026. Yet mainstream arts audiences remain disproportionately English-speaking.

Barriers include cost, lack of cultural relevance in outreach, and limited visibility of pathways into screen culture. Diversity is not only about cultural background. It also includes people who have never considered the Festival as a space for them: young audiences, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those facing financial hardship.

SFF Admit All

SFF Admit All is our response to the persistent underserving of communities facing financial, cultural and social barriers to attendance.

SFF Admit All is a community powered ticketing and engagement program that makes the Festival welcoming, relevant, and accessible to more people. As the program grows, we will:

  • Distribute complimentary tickets through trusted grassroots organisations, including First Nations groups, CALD communities, LGBTIQIA+ networks, youth organisations, cultural associations, and regional film societies
  • Recruit and support cultural leaders as community ambassadors, trusted voices who invite their communities into the Festival

Join us by donating anything from the price of your popcorn to that post-Festival feeling to share the joy of storytelling and cinema.
