Terms and Conditions of the GIO Audience Awards
1. This Competition (2023 GIO Audience Awards) is conducted by Sydney Film Festival (“SFF” – ABN 84 000 233 741), registered office Level 2, 10 Hickson Road, The Rocks) in partnership with AAI Limited, trading as GIO (“Partner” – 48 005 297 807). The Competition period is valid for the 70th Sydney Film Festival from 00:00:01am AEST 7 June 2023 – 11:59:59pm AEST 18 June 2023.
2. All entry instructions and prize information published by the SFF form part of these conditions. By entering, entrants accept these conditions.
3. Entrants must not be directors, management or employees, or their immediate family members of SFF, the Partner or its related companies or agencies associated with the Competition (“Eligible Entrant”)
4. Daily Prize Entry period: Daily Competition Entries are from 00:00:01am AEST 7 June 2023 to 11:59:59pm AEST 18 June 2023.
Major Prize Entry Period: The major prize winner will be drawn from all voters from 00:00:01am AEST 7 June 2023 to 11:59:59pm AEST 18 June 2023.
5. Every feature-length film (films 40 minutes and over in length), screened in SFF 2023 (excluding Boxed Set, Restoration and Retrospective titles) is eligible to be included in the GIO Audience Awards. Short films (films under 40 minutes in length) are not eligible for inclusion. Eligible Entrants can vote for any film.
6. To enter the Competition, an Eligible Entrant, must during the Entry Period:
a) Only enter the competition under their own name
b) Vote once per ticket in their SFF account, up to a maximum of four (4) times per film per account or email address.
c) Vote for a film at any time after it has screened, until 11:59pm 18 June 2023.
7. Entries must be received by SFF during the Competition Period. Entries will be deemed received at the time that SFF is satisfied that all necessary requirements under Condition 5 have been met and not at the time of submission by the Eligible Entrant. SFF & the Partner takes no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, illegible or misdirected entries or delays or failures in any equipment or telecommunications service used to administer this Competition.
8. Cost of entry via the internet is free, but internet connection and usage rates may apply. Eligible Entrants should obtain details of such costs from their service providers.
9. SFF & the Partner are not responsible if your mobile device, desktop computer or similar electronic device is not sufficiently capable for the purpose of submitting an entry.
10. Eligible Entrants must submit their entry manually. SFF may reject internet entries if it reasonably forms the opinion that they have been entered using automated entry means or by use of a competition entry service.
11. SFF may, in its absolute discretion, declare an entry invalid or disqualify any entrant that tampers with the entry process or benefits from such tampering, submits an entry that is incomplete or not in accordance with these conditions, or otherwise acts in a manner that is disruptive, dishonest or calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of this Competition.
12. SFF reserves the right to require an entrant to verify the validity of their entry within the requested time, including but not limited to an entrant’s identity, eligibility, age and address and to disqualify any entrant who does not satisfy any entry criteria in these conditions. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Partner’s discretion. Proof considered suitable for verification is at the SFF’s discretion.
13. SFF may, in its absolute discretion, declare your entry invalid or disqualify you if you tamper with the entry process or otherwise act in a way that jeopardises the fairness of the competition.
14. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, except at SFF’s discretion. Prizes are not redeemable for cash.
DRAW AND PRIZE(S)
15. All valid entries received during the Daily Prize Entry Period will be entered into the daily prize draw. This is a random prize draw and will be held daily from 8 – 18 June 2023 at 10:00am on the next business day at Level 2, 10 Hickson Road The Rocks, NSW 2000.
16. There are twelve (12) daily prizes to be won.
- Two (2) x Crumpler camera bags
- One (1) x package of four (4) film tickets to Palace Cinemas
- One (1) x package of six (6) film tickets to Palace Cinemas
- Two (2) x double passes to boutique Events Cinema sessions
- One (1) x ABODE Bistro.Bar dining voucher
- One (1) x ESCA dining voucher
- One (1) x Lotus the Galeries dining voucher
- One (1) x Odd Culture dining voucher
- One (1) x Fix Wine Bar + Restaurant dining voucher
- One (1) x glass brasserie dining voucher
17. All valid entries received over the course of the Major Prize Entry Period will be entered into the major prize draw. This is a random prize draw and will be held at 10:00am on 21 June 2023 at Level 2, 10 Hickson Road The Rocks, NSW 2000.
18. There is one (1) major prize to be won:
- Your own private screening of an Audience Award-winning film for 50 friends, courtesy of GIO
19. A prize winner may only win one prize from the Competition, with 13 unique winners over the course of the competition period. SFF will use a random number generator to allocate the Competition winners. Total prize pool of AUD$9,676.
20. SFF will contact daily winners by email or phone based on the information provided at the time of entry. Daily prizes must be claimed by 23rd June 2023 or else forfeited. SFF will place daily prize winners in direct contact with SFF’s partners to collect their prizes. All dining vouchers will be issued with an electronic voucher by SFF’s restaurant partners and will be guided by their own terms and conditions on use. All SFF cinema venue partners will issue electronic film passes which will be guided by their own terms and conditions on use.
21. SFF will contact the major prize winner by email or phone based on the information provided at the time of entry. The major prize must be claimed by 30 June 2023 or else forfeited. SFF will work with the major prize winner to determine availability for the private screening.
PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO PRIZE(S) GENERALLY
22. The total prize pool is valued at AUD$9,676. A prize value is the recommended retail value as provided by the relevant supplier(s). SFF takes no responsibility for any variation in a prize’s value due to exchange rate changes or otherwise.
23. Any additional costs not expressly stated, but which may be incurred in acceptance and use of a prize, are the responsibility of the winner. This includes but is not limited to travel to and from the movie screening, restaurant, accommodation, food and beverages at movie screening.
24. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, SFF and the Partner exclude all liability for any loss which is suffered or incurred in connection with the competition. Neither SFF or the Partner will be responsible for any technical, communications or other errors in the course of conducting the competition, nor failure of safe delivery of a prize.
25. All of SFF’s decisions in relation to the competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
26. The major prize winner must, at SFF’s request, participate in all promotional activity associated with the screening event (which may include publicity and photography), and consent to SFF and the Partner using their name, likeness, image and/or voice (including any photograph, film and/or recording of them) in promotional material in any media, at any time without notification or compensation, financial or otherwise.
