Synopsis

Tradition meets modernity in this sumptuous film, in which a Michelin-starred chef takes on his biggest challenge yet: opening a world-class restaurant in Tokyo in just 540 days.

Chef Yoshinori Ishii and his team aspire to create a restaurant that is both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition, from the dishes served to the building itself. Yoshinori travels across Japan in search of the finest and most sustainable producers of fish, vegetables, and meat, ensuring only the best ingredients make it into his kitchen. Every detail is essential, from perfecting each dish to actually handcrafting the dishware with his colleagues. Then a personal tragedy strikes, and his team must rally to meet their ambitious deadline. Director Aki Mizutani’s film beautifully showcases both Japan’s stunning landscapes and the relentless dedication that goes into crafting a truly special dining experience.
