Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough star as a couple who kidnap a young delinquent with the aim of training him to become a 'good boy'. Toronto and BFI London 2025.

In this thriller from Polish Oscar nominee Jan Komasa (Corpus Christi), Tommy (Anson Boon), 19, lives a delinquent lifestyle, going on benders and hooking up. One night he is kidnapped and wakes up chained in the basement of wealthy family, Chris (Graham), wife Kathryn (Riseborough), and son, Jonathan (Kit Rakusen). Under the strict control of Chris, Tommy is punished if he misbehaves and can only eat at the dinner table if he's a 'good boy'. But as Tommy learns more about his captors, instead of dissenting he learns to assimilate – and feels his collar loosen. Produced by legends Jeremy Thomas (Rabbit-Proof Fence) and Jerzy Skolimowski (EO), The Good Boy has the twisted psychological spirit of the Greek New Wave.

“With high-concept provocations and talking points that feel like something from the age of Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange or Ôshima’s Max Mon Amour.”

Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

“[Komasa] brings enough visual polish to the material to keep you in the palm of his hand.”

Ryan Lattanzio, IndieWire

“By keeping some of its cards close to its chest, [The Good Boy] respects our intelligence, which helps it to earn its sneakily moving ending.”

Steven Scaife, Slant Magazine
