Love
Synopsis
Haugerud’s keenly observed follow-up to Sex (SFF 2024) brings two very different notions of romance into focus. Love introduces Marianne, a urologist (Andrea Bræin Hovig), and Tor, a hospital nurse (Tayo Cittadella Jacobsen), who trade tales of their searches for authentic connection in present-day Oslo: Marianne, who’s straight, is being set up with a handsome, geologist divorcee, but is intrigued to learn that Tor, who’s gay, cruises local ferries at night using Grindr. Equally attuned to the desire for a soulmate as for casual flings, Love is about more than just the physical. Where Haugerud in Sex used humor to confront taboos, in Love he approaches his subject with tenderness, warmth, and sophistication.
