Synopsis

Academy Award-winning director Asif Kapadia (Senna, Amy) chronicles the final 12 days of Roger Federer’s epic professional tennis career as the world reacts - from devoted fans to career rival and friend Rafael Nadal.

Kapadia and his co-director Joe Sabia follow the tennis great as he prepares to announce that his 24-year professional career is coming to an end. Readying for the media circus about to be unleashed, Federer talks candidly about the reasons behind this decision, and what it means to him and his family. The 2022 Laver Cup, in London’s O2 Arena, is slated to be his final match. The event becomes a celebration for Federer and a raft of colleagues including Bjorn Borg, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and his longtime friend and rival Rafael Nadal. Federer is celebrated for his skill but also his graciousness on and off court – something very much in evidence as he approaches this pivotal moment in his life.

During my career, I tended to shy away from having cameras around me and my family, especially during important moments. But I didnu2019t see the harm in shooting this as it was never intended for the public. However, we captured so many powerful moments, and it transformed into a deeply personal journey
