COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Official Rules

  1. Sydney Film Festival. ABN: 84000233741 of Level 2, 10 Hickson Road, The Rocks, Australia 2000 (“Promoter”) is conducting a competition offering participants the chance to win a trip to Canada with Air Canada (“Competition”).
  2. By entering and/or participating in the competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
  3. Instructions, prizes and information on how to enter form part of these Terms and Conditions.
  4. All entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.

Competition Timing

  1. The ‘WIN A CINEMATIC TRIP TO CANADA’ competitionbegins at 12.01am AEDT on 19  February 2026 and ends at 11.59pm AEDT on 17 May 2026 (“Competition Period”). Time will be determined according to Promoter’s timekeeping systems. The timeliness of any action or inaction relating to the Competition will be determined in the Promoter’s sole discretion.

Eligibility

  1. Entry is open to residents of Australia or New Zealand who are over the age of eighteen (18) years old. Entrants are required to provide personally identifiable information to Promoter.
  2. Employees of the Promoter and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents and the immediate family members of each are not eligible to participate in the competition. Proof of identity must be provided upon request.

Entry

  1. To enter the Competition, entrants must purchase a Flexipass, Youth Pass, or Subscription to the 73rd Sydney Film Festival via the sff.org.au website, box office, or mail form (“Entry”).
  2. Entrants must also consent to joining the marketing mailing list of Sydney Film Festival, and Air Canada via an opt-in checkbox when booking or by informing the SFF staff of their opt-in to materials.
  3. Each Flexipass, Youth Pass, or Subscription purchased will be considered one entry.
  4. Entries made via purchases prior to 11.59pm on May 5 will have their entry doubled (two entries per purchased Flexipass or Subscription).

Prize Draw

12. One (1) Winner will be drawn via a random electronic draw at of Level 2, 10 Hickson Road, The Rocks, NSW Australia 2000 on 21 May 2026 (“Prize Draw Date”) and the Prize will be awarded to the first person drawn following winner validation and verification (“Winner”).

13. Winner will win the following prize up to the approximate value of CAD$12,540 (Approx AUD$12,989.) (“Prize”):

  • One (1) trip to Canada for two (2) people including:
  • Two (2) economy class round trip promotional tickets from Sydney, Australia to Vancouver, Canada.
    • These Promotional Ticket(s) are valid for travel on scheduled Air Canada flights only (including, flights operated under the Air Canada Express banner and operated by Air Canada rouge).
    • Space is subject to availability in Q (Economy) at the time of booking, and all travel is to be completed by June 30, 2027.
    • Tickets must be booked by March 31, 2027.
    • Travel is not permitted during the standard blackout periods, which are subject to change without notice.
      • 18 June 2026 to 07 September 2026 09 December 2026 to 10 January 2027
      • 17 June 2027 to 06 September 2027
    • Conditions:
      • All applicable fees, such as airport/departure taxes, security charges or other third party fees, taxes or charges are included.
      • Once your Promotional Ticket(s) has been issued, the origin and destination cannot be changed. However, a change to the flight time, and/or travel date may be permitted. A change fee per Promotional Ticket may apply.
      • All travel must be completed before the expiry date and no extension of validity will be made.
      • Your Promotional Ticket(s) are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be upgraded or redeemable for cash.
      • Frequent flyer mileage accumulation is not permitted.
      • Return travel on Promotional Ticket(s) must be completed within 90 days of outbound travel.
      • Stopovers or multi-city itineraries are not permitted.
      • Air Canada is not responsible for any costs due to delay, cancellation or disruption of service.
      • Denied boarding compensation is not applicable.
      • Any income tax liability incurred in connection with these tickets is the responsibility of the passenger.
      • Promotional Ticket(s) can only be used by the Recipient. If two or more tickets are won, they must be used to travel on the same flights/dates as the Recipient.
      • On the date of departure, Recipient must be employed by the same company under which it was employed at the time of wining the Promotional Tickets. In the event the Recipient no longer works for the same company, Recipient will not have any rights to the Promotional Tickets and they shall be considered null and void.
      • The use of eUpgrade credits is not permitted.
      • Recipients may be held liable to Air Canada for failure to adhere to the restrictions and conditions of travel applicable to their Promotional Ticket(s) or for the fraudulent use of those Promotional Ticket(s).
      • In the event the Promotional Ticket(s) were part of a contest, the terms and conditions of the contest apply.
      • These Terms and Conditions are in addition to the other terms and conditions applicable to Air Canada tickets, and accessible on Air Canada’s website.
    • Your Promotional Ticket(s) may not be distributed or sold, or otherwise used for commercial or personal gain, other than for the purpose for which it is intended. Air Canada reserves the right to modify or cancel the Promotional Ticket(s) at our discretion. Any violation of these conditions may be subject to cancellation of the Promotional Ticket(s), and/or to any legal or other recourse available for the recovery of damages suffered or costs, expenses or loss incurred as a result of such prohibited use.
  • Two (2) nights’ accommodation at Hilton Vancouver Downtown
    • 2x night stay for two in at least a standard room
    • Blackout Dates: Dec 18-Jan 3, 2027, Feb 12-20, 2027 and all statutory holiday weekends.
    • Expires June 30 2027
    • Subject to hotel availability at time of booking.
  • Three (3) nights’ accommodation at Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa
    • 3 x night stay in Premier Studio with breakfast for two daily.
    • Blackout Dates: Dec 18-Jan 3, 2027, Feb 12-20, 2027 and all statutory holiday weekends.
    • Expires June 30 2027
    • Subject to hotel availability at time of booking.
  • Three (3) nights’ accommodation at Fairmont Whistler
    • 3 x night stay in Fairmont Room
    • Blackout Dates: December 15, 2026 – January 15, 2027 and all statutory holiday periods.  All blackout dates are subject to change
    • Expires June 30 2027
    • Subject to hotel availability at time of booking.
  • Two (2) complimentary tickets to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
  • Two (2) complimentary tickets to Flyover experience
  1. Winner will acknowledge that the prize does NOT include anything not listed in point 13, notably and not limited to:
    • Any cash component such as spending money
    • Internal transfers or any additional transportation
    • Travel insurance
    • Recreational additional activities or meals
  2. Winner will be notified via phone, or email, by 21 May 2026. The name of the Winner will also be published on www.sff.org.au from 21 May 2026 for a period of thirty (30) days (once successfully contacted). All reasonable efforts will be taken to contact the Winner. The Promoter takes no responsibility for unread, undelivered or incorrectly provided contact information.
  3. Once the Winner has been verified, the Winner must provide a valid telephone number and mailing address in order to arrange for delivery of the Prize. Entrants agree to comply with the Promoter’s reasonable instruction/direction to claim the Prize.

Unclaimed prizes

  1. If the Winner cannot be contacted and the Prize remains unclaimed at 5.00pm (AEDT) on 1 June 2026, a second potential winner will be drawn on 2 June 2026 (“Winner 2”) and will be deemed the Winner. Winner will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize and hence, will have no claim to the Prize.
  2. Winner 2 will be notified by email and telephone within one (1) business day of 2 June 2026. The name of the Winner will also be published on www.sff.org.au from 2 June 2026 for a period of thirty (30) days. All reasonable efforts will be taken to contact the Winner.
  3. The process outlined in clauses 14 and 15 will be repeated until a Winner is contacted and accepts the Prize (allowing for the day time frames to be adjusted).

Conditions

  1. Prize elements, details and terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.
  2. Entrants and participants in the Competition are responsible for ensuring their familiarity with the Terms and Conditions at the time of participation. The Promoter’s decision not to enforce its rights or any specific restriction (whether communicated to an entrant or not) does not constitute a waiver of those rights, restrictions or of the Terms and Conditions generally.
  3. The Prize and all elements of the Prize must be taken as and when offered or will be forfeited, and if forfeited, the Promoter will not be liable. The Prize is subject to any additional terms and conditions imposed by the relevant supplier or the Promoter, including, as relevant:
    • booking and availability
    • entry into any event venues (including behaviour requirements, COVID safety requirements and applicable dress codes); and
    • any additional fees (payable by the Winner) relating to changes made by the Winner to the Prize after it has been booked.
  4. The Winner/s are responsible for all other unspecified costs related to the Prize, including meals and drink (outside of the Prize), travel insurance, passport, Visas, transport, costs associated with ongoing use of any parts of the Prize, etc. The Promoter does not control entry to the relevant event location.
  5. The winner (and their travel companion/s) must satisfy the Promoter as to their health and fitness for travel.
  6. As a condition of accepting the Prize, winner (and their travel companion) may be required to sign a legal document as and in the form required by the Promoter in their absolute discretion, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity. Promoter shall have no liability for Winner’s inability to travel due to failure to comply with any government regulations relating to travel (i.e. visa requirements). If the Winner does not sign any such document, their entry will be deemed invalid and they will lose any entitlement to the Prize.
  7. The Promoter is not responsible for any dispute between the Winner and any person with whom they choose to, or choose not to, share the Prize.
  8. Participants acknowledge that the Promoter can rely on these Terms and Conditions even if the Promoter only learns of a Participants ineligibility after the Promoter has awarded a prize to the ineligible entrant.
  9. Entries not complying with these Terms and Conditions are ineligible and the Promoter reserves its absolute right to disqualify any entrant from the Competition if any entries do not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
  10. The Promoter’s (or an associate of the Promoter) decision in relation to any aspect of these Terms and Conditions is final and binding on every person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into.
  11. The Promoter is not liable for Entries, Prize claims or correspondence that are misplaced, misdirected, delayed, lost, incomplete, illegible or incorrectly submitted.
  12. A request by an entrant to modify any information provided should be directed to the Promoter.
  13. The Prize is not transferable or exchangeable nor can it be redeemed for cash. Without limiting any other term of these Terms and Conditions, the Prize (and elements of the Prize) must be taken as and when specified, or will be forfeited with no replacement. The Prize value is correct as at the date of preparing these Terms and Conditions and include any applicable GST. The Promoter is not responsible for any change in the Prize value.
  14. If the Prize or any element of the Prize becomes unavailable for any reason beyond the Promoter’s control, such as force majeure event, or major disruption with one of businesses offering prize elements, then the Promoter will not be responsible in providing a substitution of the prize, and the Prize and any element of the Prize will be forfeited without any compensation to the winner. No cash will be provided to the winner under any circumstances for any element unable to be delivered to the winner beyond the Promoter’s control.
  15. The Winner will provided all information and contact details required to redeem the Prize. The Promoter does not take any responsibility for the booking, administration or organisation of the prize redemption once information has been provided.
  16. Any tax liability arising because of accepting the prize is the winner(s) responsibility.
  17. All prize advertisements depicting or describing the prizes and trade mark references are illustrative rather than depictive and do not imply an associated with the Promoter.
  18. If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of war, terrorism, state of emergency, disaster, infection by computer virus, telephone network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the relevant authorities, if required.
  19. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions, the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations.
  20. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  21. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these terms and conditions.
  22. Any incorrect or incomplete entries which make the winner unable to be easily contacted (all of which will be at the absolute discretion of the Promoter), will be invalid and may be removed by the Promoter.
  23. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents), excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), which is suffered or sustained in connection with this competition or accepting or using the Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
  24. Without limiting the previous paragraph, the Promoter and the agencies and companies associated with this Competition are not liable for any loss of, damage to or delay in delivery of the Prize.
  25. By entering this competition, entrants consent to the storage of their personal information on the databases of the Promoter, Air Canada, and their related bodies corporate and the Promoter and its related bodies corporate may use this information for future promotional and marketing purposes including contacting entrants via the contact details provided by the entrant. Without limiting the foregoing, Entrants’ personal information provided in connection with this competition will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Statement, and the privacy policies of Air Canada. At an entrant’s request, all information provided to the Promoter will be removed from our databases.
  26. The laws of NSW, Australia apply to these Terms and Conditions and Participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW, Australia.
