SFF presents the Australian Premiere of Frankenstein from celebrated auteur and Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro, who brings his much-anticipated passion project to sumptuous gothic life with a superb cast including Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth.

Del Toro adapts Mary Shelley's classic tale of mad scientist Victor Frankenstein (Isaac) and his monstrous and melancholy Creature (Elordi) in this gothic, operatic retelling. Set in the late 19th century, Frankenstein lectures on conquering death with his experimentations to reanimate reassembled corpses, imploring the narrow-minded academics to support his research. Patronage arrives via Harlander (Christoph Waltz), who is also the uncle of Victor’s sister-in-law-to-be Elizabeth (Goth). Unencumbered, Frankenstein hoards, hacks and affixes the finest body-parts to create his masterpiece – that may also be his doom. With transformative performances from its high calibre cast, remarkable technical expertise, astonishing production design and costuming, del Toro’s impassioned vision is finally alive!

One of del Toro’s finest, this is epic-scale storytelling of uncommon beauty, feeling and artistry.
