Entries are now open for the 2021 Sydney Film Festival’s Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Best Australian Documentary and Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films. Entries are also open to Australian feature-length productions for the festival program generally.

We encourage submissions (features, documentaries and shorts) to the festival from First Nation filmmakers from around the world.

We also welcome entries of any length to the festival’s Screenability program from filmmakers with disability.

Closing date for entries: 26 March 2021.

Please note: In response to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on the Sydney Film Festival and screen industry, we will only accept unsolicited entries from Australia for our 2021 festival. Productions from outside Australia, other than films eligible for our First Nations and Screenability programs, which the Sydney Film Festival has not specifically invited to submit will not be eligible to apply.

The 68th Sydney Film Festival will take place from 18 to 29 August 2021.
