An endearing documentary about two cousins who run an organic farm in rural Greece, growing tomatoes — and blasting classical music across the fields.
SELECTED: SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL 2019

In a small rural Greek village, two cousins run an organic farm, growing tomatoes with the help of some hard-working old ladies – and classical music blasted across the fields. Little jars of tomato paste, each requiring more than a kilo of fruit, and layered antipasto savoury snacks are their hallmarks. With no machines for mass production, only weathered hands to crank the honey, slice the tomatoes, and apply each label one by one. They’re clearly dedicated, but hampered by marketing acumen. With its sunny approach that’s as laid-back and no-frills as the villagers themselves, this is a wonderfully endearing and optimistic documentary.
Economou's passionate approach, combined with a carefully measured balance between the personal and the general on one hand, and the local and the universal on the other, makes for a deeply satisfying viewing experience.
