Inspired by true events, Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga) stars in this tragic, real life story of actress Jean Seberg, who made her career breakthrough in Godard’s 1960 Breathless. Worn out by her meteoric rise to stardom, Seberg leaves Paris and heads home to the USA. A chance meeting, leads her to support a radical group called The Black Panthers which attracts the attention of the FBI, to disastrous effect. Australian director Benedict Andrews (Una SFF 2018) sleekly draws interesting parallels between the 1960s and contemporary America as we follow Seberg, trying to prove herself as an actor of substance while also wanting to make a radical difference to the world. A captivating film that questions why people choose to walk down certain paths; and a story about the very human compulsions that can attract us towards larger causes.
