Birds of Passage
The beautiful Zaida, a young Wayuu tribe-member in Colombia’s north, has come of age, leaving formidable matriarch Ursula with the important task of finding a suitable match. The women yield considerable power in this strongly traditional community. Her instincts warn her against young Rapayet, an ambitious man with strong links outside of the clan, but she finally accedes, setting an outrageous dowry. The seed sown, Rapayet stumbles onto a plan with his flamboyant friend and cousin to sell marijuana to a visiting American. It’s the beginnings of a profitable new enterprise, one that ultimately brings glory and ruin in equal measure.
