Direct from Cannes Un Certain Regard, Rodrigo Moreno’s Argentinian comedic drama is a delightfully unconventional bank heist film, fascinating love story and treatise on the meaning of life.
Amongst his duties at the small bank at which he works, Morán deposits large amounts of cash into the bank vault daily. One day, in full view of the surveillance cameras, he packs up a large amount of that cash and casually walks out of the bank. He arranges a meeting at a bar with his colleague Román, making him an unwilling accomplice. More than a simple robbery, Morán has a plan and a short stint in jail is only the first step. Complicating matters, Morán falls in love during a brief interlude prior to his imprisonment. Román, guilt-ridden in his complicity, also comes upon a romantic opportunity as he contemplates his own life choices. With an appealingly amusing spirit, award winning director Moreno takes us on an epic multi-faceted journey where a bank robbery is just the beginning.
