Direct from Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Léa Seydoux stars in the sensitive, deeply personal new drama from director Mia Hansen-Løve (Things to Come, Bergman Island, SFF 2021).
Single mother Sandra (Seydoux) lives in a small apartment in Paris, trying to balance the emotional needs of her parents, her young daughter, and herself. Sandra regularly visits her father, Georg (Pascal Greggory) whose health has begun to deteriorate. While she and her mother (Nicole Garcia) struggle to agree on finding Georg a safe place to live, Sandra unexpectedly reconnects with an old friend, Clément (Melvil Poupaud). A passionate relationship begins, but not without repercussions. Hansen-Løve weaves autobiographical elements into this delicate, heartfelt story of familial and romantic connections. Seydoux is radiant as her lead, bringing tremendous warmth and empathy to her role and the film as a whole. Winner Europa Cinemas Cannes Label for best European film at Cannes 2022.
Seydoux is transcendent, carrying a sadness inside which proves incredibly moving when the opportunity for love presents itself and she melts into it.

Hansen-Løve directs with her trademark unfussy, unflashy suppleness, the restrained naturalism punctuated by lusher touches.
